Volunteers and children celebrating outside the home beneath a Fidelstine banner

About Fidelstine

A sacred responsibility, not charity alone

We restore dignity to the abandoned and hope to the forgotten, walking with children and vulnerable adults from vulnerability to self-sufficiency, one life at a time.

Why we exist

Our mission and vision

Mission

At Fidelstine Charity Concerns and Orphanage, we exist to restore dignity to the abandoned and hope to the forgotten. We provide safe shelter, nourishing care, quality education, and unwavering emotional support to orphaned and vulnerable children and adults, not as charity alone, but as a sacred responsibility. Every child who walks through our doors is met with love, protection, and the tools to build a future of their own choosing.

Through compassionate caregiving, family reunification, vocational training, empowerment, and crisis response, we stand in the gap for those society has overlooked, walking with them from vulnerability to self-sufficiency, one life at a time.

Vision

We envision a world where no child grows up unseen, unheard, or unloved, where every abandoned life is given a second chance at wholeness. Fidelstine aspires to be a beacon of hope across Nigeria and beyond: a home where broken stories are rewritten, where trauma gives way to resilience, and where vulnerable children and adults are equipped not just to survive, but to thrive, lead, and give back to the communities that once overlooked them.

“Nurturing Hope, Building Futures, Defending Dignity.”

Our motto

What guides us

Seven values behind every decision

  • Compassion

We treat every child, the less privileged, the abandoned and vulnerable adult with tenderness, patience and empathy, seeing beyond circumstance to the person within.

  • Dignity

We uphold the worth of every individual in our care, ensuring they are never defined by their past, but empowered by their potential.

  • Integrity

We operate with transparency and accountability in all we do, honouring the trust placed in us by donors, partners and communities.

  • Resilience

We equip those we serve with the emotional strength, education and life skills to rise above trauma and build independent lives.

  • Training and Empowerment

We give young people and vulnerable adults practical skills, vocational training and mentoring, so they can earn a living, lead, and stand on their own.

  • Community

Healing happens in relationship: family reunification, local partnerships and a sense of belonging for every child.

  • Advocacy

We speak up for the rights of the vulnerable, working to influence policy and practice that protects those who cannot protect themselves.

Our journey

How we got here

  1. The beginning

    Where it began

Fidelstine started with a simple conviction: no child in our community should grow up unseen, unheard or unloved.

  2. A home

    The home opens

A safe home opened in Ubulu Okiti, giving children a bed, regular meals and caring adults around them.

  3. Learning

    Education programme

School sponsorships began, followed by tutoring and skills training for older young people and vulnerable adults.

  4. December

    The Christmas Scheme

The first seasonal outreach brought food, clothing and gifts to families across the community. It now runs every year.

  5. Today

    Growing together

With an extension site, new school uniforms and more children in class, the work keeps growing, and so does our need for partners.
